How would you describe yourself?
I am organized, hard-working and busy. I enjoy learning new things and challenging myself.
Tell us a little about your family.
My husband and I are both retired educators. We spend a lot of time together and I consider him my best friend. Our “baby” is now 23 and he is married. Our West Highland White terrier named Lucy is our constant companion and in charge of the house.
Who designed your blog?
It is the FUN theme by Pretty Cute Designs. I have personalized using elements from Little Sweet Designs.
How did you come up with your blog name?
“The Robin’s Nest” goes well as a play on our last name. The “Designs” comes from a side business that we have redoing furniture and making soap.
When did you begin to craft?
My mother was always creative and always doing some kind of project so, probably to some extent, most of my life.
Do you sell your crafts?
We sell furniture, soap and we will also be selling decorative signs in the future.
How do you find new projects?
Sometimes they just pop into my head and other times are inspired by things I see.
What has been your sweetest success story?
When my son got married, they had a Shabby Chic wedding and we did all of the decorating, including the tables, vintage china, milk glass, shabby chic furniture and other items ourselves. We also added a personal touch of including vintage sheet music because they are both music students. You can read all about it and see photos on the blog.
How do you prioritize time with your family, projects and your blog?
This should be really easy for me because we don’t have children at home. It is still something I struggle with at times. It seems like no matter what, you always feel guilty about what you are or aren’t doing.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I hope to have health, family fun and a prosperous blog and business.
What has been your favorite project?
We have an old wooden vegetable bin with three sections that we painted and distressed. We also put chicken wire in the cut out part of each section. It is in my craft room and I just love looking at it.
Have you ever taken classes to learn your craft? If so, where?
Who are some of your favorite craft bloggers that inspire you?
I really enjoying Young House Love, Oh Joy! and Brit and Co. right now.
